Sauna Camp
Excelsior, Minneapolis
A winter sauna village at Camp Fire Minnesota on Lake Minnewashta with more than ten wood-fired cedar saunas, warming huts, bonfires and plunges through holes cut in the ice.
More about Sauna Camp
Sauna Camp runs from about December through the end of April, Thursday to Sunday, on the grounds of a summer camp near Excelsior. A day pass covers a three-hour window in the community sauna village, where the saunas range in size and style, including a large cedar barrel sauna that seats around two dozen people.
Once the lake freezes, several plunge holes are cut in the ice. There are warming huts and bonfires between rounds and a heated changing tent, but restrooms are a walk from the saunas. Private barrel sauna bookings with their own ice hole are available for groups.
