About Sauna City Guide
Sauna City Guide lists public saunas, bathhouses, Korean spas, banyas and cold plunge studios in American cities, and records the details you need before you go.
Why we built it
Sauna culture is growing fast in the US, but the basics are hard to find in one place. Is it co-ed? Do I need a swimsuit? How cold is the plunge? Can I walk in? We answer those questions for every place we list, with sources.
How we check each place
- We start from the place's own website and booking page.
- We add details from other named sources, such as city guides and newspapers, only when the place's own site does not cover them.
- We record where each detail came from and when we checked it. Every listing shows its sources and dates.
- We do not list a place until we can confirm it is open to the public.
- If sources disagree, we use the most recent one, and if we still cannot tell, we leave the detail out.
What the details mean
- Heat: the type of sauna and, when published, its temperature range in °F.
- Cold: a cold plunge tub, a cold pool, natural water such as a lake or the ocean, or only cold showers.
- Co-ed: whether men and women share the sauna areas.
- Swimsuit: whether swimsuits are required, optional or not worn.
- Booking: whether you must book, should book, or can walk in.
- Day pass and session: the price of entry when we checked it. Prices change often, so confirm before you go.
What we do not do
Listings are not paid for, and a place cannot pay to be listed or to rank higher. We show ads on some pages to cover the cost of running the site; ads are always separate from the listings.
Corrections
Saunas open, close and change prices all the time. If something is out of date, please tell us and we will check it again.
