More about 612 Sauna Cooperative

The 612 Sauna Society was formed in 2016 and opened its first public sessions in 2017, calling itself the first community-owned mobile sauna in the country. Its 24-foot trailer has two levels of cedar benches for 8 to 10 people and changing space on board. Sessions are 90 minutes with a host, and anyone can book a public seat.

The sauna moves between residencies, with the winter season usually at The Trailhead in Theodore Wirth Park, so check the reservation calendar for the current spot. Some locations have lake access; elsewhere you cool off with buckets of cold water. Wear a swimsuit or light clothes. Special sessions include aufguss, silent heat and queer heat nights.
